Origin of the name "Serangan" is believed by locals derived from the word "sira angen" which means feeling affection or miss. This word is taken up when the Buginese sailors land on the island for a drink. After drinking water from the island, they are exposed to "sira angen".

Location of Serangan Island

Serangan Island is a small island on the island of Bali, precisely south of Sanur Beach. The island with an area of 73 hectares is located as far as 250 meters from the beach southeast of the island of Bali. The island is inhabited by about 3,848 inhabitants.


Serangan Island is connected to the island of Bali via a bridgehead. This bridge can only be passed when the sea waves are low. However, when the sea waves are high, you can not access the Serangan Island through the bridge. You can use the boat (boat) from Sanur Beach, Suwung, or Tanjung Benoa to get to this island.

Natural Beauty

Serangan Island is also called turtle island. So called because on this island there is green turtle breeding. The fishermen who previously often took sea turtle eggs for consumption, now participate to preserve turtles in order not to become extinct.

On Serangan Island there are also mangrove forests. This mangrove forest was damaged and disturb the surrounding ecosystem. However, various efforts continue to be done to fix it. This mangrove forest must be preserved to maintain the balance of nature.
